A typical week at my setting
Your child will enjoy a varied week of both adult-led and child-initiated play, outings and activities, all based around a loose monthly theme. Home routines are incorporated into each day as far as possible and individual needs are respected. I attend at least one toddler / childminder drop-in session, work in co-operation with local children's centres, have annual passes at a number of local attractions and place a high value on active learning.
Art, craft and activities
Children's open ended creativity is encouraged by way of providing plenty of art and craft opportunities and a variety of well planned activities which will include a focused activity based around the monthly theme. For example, children may make lanterns to celebrate Chinese New Year, enjoy tree bark rubbing when we are thinking about patterns in the environment or plant seeds to take home and care for in the spring.
Outdoor adventures
Getting out and about in the fresh air is important, we often make use of our local woods and I encourage you to provide suitable clothing for your child so they can fully participate in outdoor events in all weathers.
Local attractions
I hold an annual membership pass for Standalone Farm, and make full use of the facilities since they enable children to learn about change across the seasons, feel part of their community and learn about animals, health and safety. These visits are included within your fee.
Healthy eating, play and rest, , pla
Healthy eating and making the right food choices for life are encouraged by way of homemade nutritious food and snacks, included within your fee.
There is ample time for children to simply 'play' with a wide range of high quality toys and resources, and naturally periods where naps and rest can occur.
